Our Team
Randy E Roybal
Our Inspiration
The Randy E Roybal Foundation was created to honor Randal Edward Roybal, who passed from this life at the age of 19.
Randy was born on October 11, 1961. He spent his short life in Westminster, Colorado where he attended Iver C Ranum High School. He passed away as a freshman at Colorado State University.
During his junior and high school sports careers, he earned recognition for his prowess, skill and sportsmanship. He played on the Perl Mack All Star Little League team for three years and won Most Valuable Player as a freshman basketball star in high school. Randy was selected for the Skyline League All Conference Baseball Team in Westminster and was honored as a member of the 1978 American Amateur Baseball Congress All-Star team. Despite his many athletic successes and reputation as a strong competitor, he maintained a deep sense of integrity, humility and collegiality thereby earning him the nickname “Coach”.
In addition to sports, Randy served his school and community as a student council officer and active junior member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. In 1977, the Westminster Elks named him Junior Teen of the Year. Those who knew him described him as an embodiment of team spirit and friendship. His friends remember him as quiet and unassuming with a warm smile and quick wit. For all of us, he is an example of who we want to be in this world - faithful, positive, loving, impactful. Randy serves as our inspiration and our champion.
Ron and Deb Roybal
Co-Founders
Ron and Deb Roybal launched the Randy E Roybal Foundation to honor Randy’s legacy. Just as Randy did, they believe it is our responsibility as humans to advocate for equality and social justice at every possible opportunity. Their way of responding in a troubled world is to live as breathing examples of Randy’s love and positivity through philanthropy and service in the community.
With a long history in the finance industry, Ron is a co-founder of the Randy E Roybal Foundation. He serves as a member of the board of directors in guiding our strategic and operational priorities. Deb’s background as a healthcare executive, university professor, leadership development consultant and social justice advocate provides the backdrop for her work in forming the Foundation. She serves as the Foundation’s Executive Director and President of the board of directors.
