2023 Positive Citizenship Award applications will open soon!
The Randy E Roybal Foundation is pleased to announce the 2023 Positive Citizenship Award, including a $1000 scholarship! The award and scholarship are available to 8th grade students currently enrolled in Westminster Public Schools in Colorado.
The award is given in memory of Randy Roybal, who attended Iver C Ranum High School in Westminster, Colorado in the 1980s and passed away as a freshman at Colorado State University. Randy was an example of what it means to impact the world through positive citizenship. Actively participating in his community and involved in sports, music and education, Randy met many people in his life and left a heart-print on every one of them during his short time on this planet. He worked hard and always performed at his best. He stood up to bullies; never wavered in the face of hardship or adversity; always respected his teachers, coaches and parents; and took care of everyone around him. With a warm spirit and delightful sense of humor, Randy was loved by everyone who knew him, and many of his friends who still live and work in Westminster remember him fondly.
The Randy E Roybal Foundation was created to honor Randy’s memory. At the heart of the Foundation’s mission are two key goals: 1) foster positive citizenship, and 2) improve the human condition. We accomplish our mission through support of education and life-enhancing activities for students and families in Westminster, Colorado. The 2023 scholarship award prompts 8th grade students in Westminster Public Schools to think about and plan for their future.
The 2021 Award for Positive Citizenship recognizes students’ efforts to always be at their best, to care for others and to change the world through respect and positivity. Applications will open in March of 2023.
If you are a student in Westminster Public Schools and are interested in applying for this award, talk with your teachers or school advisor about all the ways you can qualify for the award…and a $1000 college scholarship.
