Announcing our 2023 Positive Citizenship Award Winner!
We are delighted to announce the winner of our 2022 Positive Citizenship Award winner, Alexa M.!
One element that stood out to us as we reviewed Alexa’s application is her positive attitude. To help build up her younger classmates’ confidence, she offers them compliments and talks to everyone she passes in the hallway, often resulting in hugs and giant smiles. She offers to help teachers, even if that means cleaning classrooms or trying hard to make someone else’s day better. In addition, she mentioned that she struggled during the pandemic when she felt very lonely and disconnected from her classmates and teachers while using ZOOM to complete class sessions. Rather than complaining about it, she adjusted where she needed to so that she could complete assignments and find other ways to connect with friends and teachers. She also learned that she prefers to be in the classroom and shared with us that her experiences during the pandemic made her appreciate time in school even more. In writing a recommendation letter, one of Alexa’s teachers commented that, “Where Alexa truly shines brightest is her overall positive personality. She balances both studiousness and joyfulness that is hard to find in most middle schoolers.”
Congratulations, Alexa!
